Writing about (…) Heinz Trökes as a graphic artist and draughtsman is a very special kind of challenge. The sheer number of works alone, the simultaneous creation of stylistically entirely different sheets, the diversity of the artistic media hardly allows for a summary, and thus for generalisation. This although his drawing work is of particularly immense importance in his oeuvre. The influential art critic, Will Grohmann, already offered the following evaluation in 1949: “Trökes, it must be expressly stated, is a master of the pen and of black-and-white. His drawings, which already fill volumes, are characterised by an astonishing sophistication of both the interpretive and graphic aspects. (…)”
